Carving the Divine offers a rare and intimate look into the life and artistic process of modern-day Busshi – practitioners of a 1400 year lineage of Buddhist woodcarving. Determined to pass his craft down to future generations, Master Koun Seki, the former apprentice of renowned Busshi, Kourin Saito, interviews a candidate applying to be his new apprentice. Quickly though, we discover this apprenticeship and the Busshi’s life to be far less glamorous, and much more austere, than we (or the Candidate) would’ve likely imagined.
If you are interested in hosting a screening event with Director Q&A and/or acquiring a copy of Carving the Divine for an educational institution (universities, colleges, cultural centers, libraries, etc.), please contact us at info@carvingthedivine.com. You can also check out our website www.carvingthedivine.com for more information about the film.

Welcome Space Brothers (2023) is a feature documentary that unveils the true story of The Unarius Academy of Science, a long-running extraterrestrial-channeling, self-healing spiritual school in El Cajon, California, whose students in the late 1970s became a wildly prolific filmmaking and art collective under the direction of outlandish spiritual leader and visionary filmmaker Ruth E. Norman, AKA “Archangel Uriel.” [https://jodiwille.com/films]
