Black Religious Scholars Group announces the twenty-sixth annual consultation. The theme for this year’s BRSG annual meeting is entitled “Making It Plain: Building a New Way Forward.” We have arranged an enlightening and engaging program. We have invited New Testament Scholar and political commentator Rev. Dr. Obery Hendricks, Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in the Department of Religion and the Department of African American and African Diasporic Studies, and distinguished pastor and scholar, Rev Dr. Leslie Callahan, senior pastor of the St. Paul’s Baptist Church, to be our honorees this year in recognition of their significant contributions and scholarship in the church, academy, politics and world of faith. The mission of the program is to develop resources and opportunities for students, scholars, clergy, and community members to envision and create a more just and sustainable world for all. We will convene a “Council of Griots” comprised of distinguished honorees and panelists who will provide wisdom and remarks for the community at large.
